izzy torres graduated from the university of south florida with a master of architecture and community design, in 2006. while completing his degree, izzy traveled throughout north america and northern europe exploring contextually exciting architecture and its direct response to site and user needs. after graduating, izzy began his professional career with hok (formally hellmuth, obata + kassabaum). his passion for architecture and design talent quickly became evident, and within a short time, began contributing to the design of several projects including institutional, residential, commercial, housing, government, and urban design projects all over the world. some of his contributions include the design development of the salvador dali museum's spiral staircase and biomorphic glass structure. the museum is located in st. petersburg, florida and is the first of its kind to utilize free-form geodesic geometry in the united states. in conjunction with the salvador dali museum, an ambitious plan for a world-class sustainable research university in saudi arabia began and izzy received an invitation to participate in the collaborative process with hok st. louis and hok houston on the design of king abdullah university of science and technology, known by its acronym, kaust and featured in the 2010 november issue of architectural record. kaust has become the first built project in saudi arabia to achieve leed certification, and the largest in the world to attain leed platinum. mr. torres brings a fresh view of the design field to every project, and his expertise includes conceptual design, schematic design, design development, and construction documents of projects varying in size and scope.
